Gir Characteristics

Distinct in appearance, distinct in performance — the only ultra-convex cattle breed in the world.

Gir are generally mottled, ranging from red through yellow to white — black being the only unacceptable colour. They originated in southwest India in the state of Gujarat and have since spread to Kishangarh (Ajmer), Rajasthan. The breed is known for its distinct appearance, height & weight and natural beauty, very different from European breeds like the Jersey.
